Welcome to Sylvan Sites - South Portland

Frederick Wheeler Hinckley, an attorney and later mayor of South Portland had quite the side hustle: designing an building houses.

He began what would eventually become Sylvan Sites in 1907 with just one house which he built for his bride. He went on to build a total of 37 homes, designing each himself in many styles including Spanish, Tudor, Colonial Revival, Italianate, and Craftsman.

Adjacent to Sylan Sites, this recently protected 76 acre "Forever Farm" has been producing food for the community for generations. Walking trails are open to the public.

Ocean House Market

A few blocks away on Ocean House Road, you’ll find a great market with a diverse selection of beer and wine, and a selection of sandwiches and snacks. I highly recommend the lobster roll.
